Conference Theme
Land-People Relations: Diversity and Transitions
The world today experiences profound shifts in land use, tenures, and administration. Global and local initiatives like Climate Actions and Sustainable Development Goals impact land usage, particularly affecting marginalized communities. Amidst these transformations, diversity thrives in land-people relations, where customary tenure and collective tenures endure despite formal reforms.
ILDC 2023 explores connections, urging participants to delve into the interplay between external transition triggers (e.g., climate actions, sustainable development goals) and local diversity contexts in land and development.
Session proposal and abstract submitters are encouraged to explore various combinations of topics, connecting diverse contexts with external transition triggers. For instance,
1. Delve into ‘how women’s land rights agenda of SDG interacts with land records digitization,’ or ‘the influence of land formalization (e.g., SVAMITVA or Forest Rights) on financial inclusion or climate action.’
2. Unearth discussions on the interaction between energy economics (renewable energy investments) and land economics.
3. Investigate the influence of climate action or inclusive growth instruments on local tenure regimes like informality or community tenure.
Submissions examining the nexus between technology and land policy, climate change, disaster and land tenure, urban planning and development, and local tenure are highly welcomed.
We encourage sharing ideas that expand conversations to include ‘left-behind’ communities such as tea tribes and fisher folks, and efforts to democratize resource governance.
Join ILDC 2023 in sculpting a sustainable, inclusive, and diverse land-people future.
